I went tonight to FedEx to mail Valkyrie some Reese's cups to satisfy her cravings and because she is so sweet (she's mailing me some tea from South Africa). Anyway, FedEx wanted to charge me $64 to ship a small package. I raised my eyebrows and repeated the price and he said "yep." Ok, so don't worry Valkyrie, I am sending them tomorrow, but I could use some help from ya'll as to where to go to ship my little package. I know many of you have friends abroad, whether it's through the teaswap or blogging. What company do you use? USPS? DHL? UPS? Something else I am not thinking of? I just know that I CAN get it cheaper and thought $64 was a rip-off.
Posted by Hannah at May 18, 2005 09:24 PMOMG!! I know FEDEX is defintely more expensive! I usually go for UPS... try going to UPS site, and get a quick quotation. :)
Posted by: Penny at May 18, 2005 10:20 PMI don't use Fedex or UPS unless it's an important document. USPS does a fine job. I send out all teas through them. And it doesn't take long at all. Even Priority Mail through USPS is more reliable :)
Posted by: stef at May 19, 2005 11:54 AMUSPS! Never had a problem send over seas
Posted by: Rachel at May 19, 2005 03:37 PMI am a fan of the USPS.
Posted by: shokufeh at May 19, 2005 08:49 PMI laughed when I saw your post. I finally managed to get your 2nd batch off yesterday, instead of going the regular postal route, I went to a company called Post Net. They wanted to charge me R396.00 ($66), whereupon I raised MY eyebrows and said "really?????" anyway, I discovered that by removing one of the teas (which weighed around 650g - I was able to lower that to R97 ($16) - so I've sent you four varieties instead of 5. (:) One of them the "Five Roses" normal one, is my favourite. I'm not a big fan of the "Rooibos" herbal variety, but I'm told it's very popular with tourists!! (LOL) Anyway, it's going to London with a courier service and then from there will be put into secure mail to you in Georgia. They said it definitely shouldn't take longer than 7-10 working days. Oh yes, I even left it in the grocery store bag where I bought it so that you know where to get more if you like any of them.
