It's Happening . . . Again

I woke up this morning totally hating where I live-- not my house, but the town. Hell, let's face it, the whole state practically (although I LOVE Atlanta!). I dreamed last night that we got some new shopping centers here with neat, trendy stores, and most importantly, a Starbucks. There were also more ethnic restaurants too. :-) (I'm sure this came from the fact that we went for Korean last night-- one of the ONLY ethnic restaurants here!). Even more depressing, James doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get OUT! I know he needs to finish his master's and that's totally fine. But then, we are SO GONE!

The school system here sucks, and this is my lively hood. We are ranked like #49 out of 50 states, which is pretty bad. What was I thinking moving here? Ok, so I wanted to be close to my parents and I still do, but I also can't stand it here. I have the day ahead of me (well, most of it) and nothing I realy want to do. Someone come kidnap me please! You can take me anywhere and I'll even PAY you!

More Info: James has a year and a half I think and then we're hoping to move to Charlotte, NC. My family wants to go too, so we'll all move together like we did down here.

So where do you think you'd like to move?

How long does James have left before he finishes? Where would you move to?

I love that about the States - there are so many great cities to live in, here it's pretty much where you are is where you stay - at least for me it will always be Cape Town. (and of course for Pixy, always Johannesburg) - any sign of the tea arriving yet?

I WANT TO LEAVE TOO! AND, in 2 years, I'll be finished school, about the same time as James. You know if we BOTH leave, Mom Dad and Dah will have to come. So it is a matter of where. NC, fine with me. As long as it isn't Columbus!

i feel your pain, hannah. dalton is just as bad as columbus. i miss starbucks and panera. oh well. at least joe and i will be moving to atlanta in a year and a half or so, although i'd love to go back to maryland.

I was SO HAPPY to get out of Atlanta last year. It may be better than where you are, but it loses its charm once your car is stolen, your other car is broken into, you catch someone trying to steal your wallet, and it takes you 2 hours to drive three-quarters of a mile. BUT . . . I finished up school & hubby and I are happier than ever here in Asheville, NC. Not only is it gorgeous, but the people are nicer & the stores are better (more unique, artsy, ecclectic). You should definitely consider NC!

NC is a beautiful state, and I've heard good things about Charlotte. And I really understand what you mean about Columbus...really. Hang in there - try looking forward to the nearer happy things like your trip!!!

I love the DC area, I have always been a city girl, since I was born in NY and stuff, but whenever I go to a small town to visit
(ex: Cape May, NJ.). I get shocked at how nice and sweet people are. Its a good change, but I don't think I could live in a small town. You know how I am :-)
