The Peanut

It still doesn't seem real that I'm pregnant. It was just too easy! Now, granted we tried really hard, but still . . . I feel so blessed that it happened so quickly. And I also feel guilty. A close friend of mine can't even have children and I almost feel ashamed of my egg-dropping ovaries and long ovulation period.

I swear my stomach is sticking out a bit. It's WAY too early to be growing, so I'm feeling really fat. I think part of it is that I'm bloated. My Lord, pregnancy will give you some gas! I feel all puffed out. When Shokufeh talked about goozes, she wasn't kidding! It's odd, because I don't have any symptoms really-- it's just too early-- but I am much more tired, but this could be from the fact that I've gone back to work and I've had a lot of excitement. I'm just dying to feel SOMETHING. My boobs don't even hurt. But in spite of my lack of symptoms, I know my peanut is in there.

I drive myself nuts wondering if it's a boy or a girl. I know there's no point in wondering. I won't know for months, but still . . . I see all these cute clothes and I'm dying to buy some, but I don't know what to get. I already bought a cute pair of booties, a bib, and a little blanket. My mom bought me a Classic Pooh album to record my experiences and also a comb and brush set. We probably won't buy anything else for a while, I was just so excited that I went a little crazy.

For all you mom's out there, I'm curious, when did you first notice that your waistline was changing?

At the very beginning of my pregnancy, it felt pretty surreal for me, too ~ I just couldn't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that there was a little one there!!! :) And now that Lucas is four months old, I look at him and just can't believe that he was *inside me*! hehe :) I didn't seem to get very big with my pregnancy, so I'm not a good one to ask about the waistline thing. We got pregnant in July, and I think it was November when my pants started getting pretty tight. Oh, Hannah, I truly miss those days. Enjoy this amazing time of life!

Hi Hannah - I haven't been online a lot & so I'm totally behind in the news. First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is very exciting news - I know how you wanted to get pregnant in South Africa so this is wonderful! And welcome back (albeit over a week late). Your trip sounded fantastic & I'm enjoying hearing a little about it so far & the pics. The tanzanite ring is really cute! I love picking up jewellery from my travels - it's something that will stay with you forever (along with the memories).

No advice to offer, but I just wanted to say I am looking forward to a day by day (or however often you post!) journal of your pregnancy and symptoms. Also, this will be something great to show your baby one day.

Hannah, I am truly excited for you and your husband. You have some wonderful events to look forward to, the first kick, movements and to watch your body change. The most amazing was to see the heartbeat of Amber and know she was healthy. Those are days I will cherish forever. I was around four months preggo when my waistline started to expand and then it kept expanding and my belly would itch while I was growing. Like someone blew me up with a pump...lol.

It took about 4 or 5 months before I had to do something else besides my normal clothes. With the second I gave it about 3 months. I definently started noticing the body changes right away - I had stretch marks on my butt of all places at 4 months even though I'd only gained a pound. I think part of it was I was still so young and my body was still growing. As far as the tired part that started right away with my second, I would just sleep and sleep and sleep all day long. Make sure and take your prenatal vitamins those'll help.

Congratulations!!! With my first pregnancy, I got pregnant in November and by December I had to start wearing elastic-waist pants. I wasn't big enough for maternity pants, but I became a little bloated and my body had started to change enough where regular pants were way too uncomfortable.
