More on the Feet and Diaper Question

Thank you for all your well wishes about my feetloaves! They are still puffy, but my sweet hubby has spent hours (literally) rubbing them and the swelling has subsided a bit. They are still sore though. I am also drinking tons of water and watching my sodium a bit. I called the doctor yesterday, and according to his nurse, they could get worse. She put me on evening rest. I have to lay on my left side when I get home from work. I see the OBGYN Monday and they said they will look at them then. My blood pressure isn't high (I took it at the pharmacy) and I haven't been having headaches-- a sign of the onset of pre-eclampsia.

Ok, now for some advice. I need to buy some diapers for when baby girl gets home (my mom assures me I can buy these later, but I want to have everything ready). What brand/type do you prefer? I know this is a personal preference, but I'm sure some brands are absolute no-no's. I'll start out with newborn sized ones and then buy bigger ones when I need them I guess. I never realized there were so many decisions to make!

Everyone told me to only ever use Pampers, but honestly the huggies fit my little boy MUCH better. The Huggies 'Freedom' range is a bit cheaper than the Pampers ones and since they fit much better I started using those. This also happened to another friend of mine - she switched to huggies with her little boy - but discovered that the pampers fitted her daughter better! It just depends, I bought both brands in new born size (I only needed like 2 packs of about 48 per pack before he moved up a size.)So i used both H and P and then decided on H. If I have a little girl she may well fit better into P. Well that's the story on diapers here - not sure how your brands measure up against one another?

Well for newborns, they get changed all the time. I used pampers or huggies. Whichever was on sale. But trust me, later on, when they get really wet, my personal choice is Pampers. They are much better at the leakness factor, as opposed to Huggies. My babies would soak through with the Huggies. So my opinion: Pampers.

Huggies newborn. I did not like the Pampers Swaddlers - they leaked on me. I've continued to use Huggies, bought in bulk at Costco, and really like their fit on MrMan. I just started using Seventh Generation (chlorine-free), and like them.

I guess maybe part of it depends on baby's build, since my opinion is opposite Emmakirst's? Shop around, buy the smallest packages possible, see what you like.

it will all depend what the baby can wear... my sister and i could never wear pampers... they gave us head to toe rashes... and Jeremy couldn't wear huggies... so we are going to wait and see what happens with Wiggles and see if she will break out in a rash or not... and from some of my friends this happens a lot... so we are also getting a few cloth diapers too...

I've asked this question of every person I know that has kids...and I get a different answer from each person. A coworker said Huggies truly suck and that the kid had major blowouts every time they used Huggies...so use Pampers Swaddlers. My friend told me Pampers were leaky, and that especially at night I should use Huggies Overnights...Huggies are the bes. Another friend said Target brand was awesome and they liked them better than Pampers or Huggies. My grandmother says Huggies...another friend says Luvs...so, I have a closet full of diapers that people have given me as gifts, all different brands, and I'm just going to decide what is best on my own.

Hannah, first of all congrats! I have obviously been away from the blogworld far too long as 3 of my blogger friends are almost at term and I am just finding out that they were preg. to begin with! Having had (in the past, thank GOD!) kids in diapers for 6 years straight, all I can say is you will discover what works for you. It really is not a matter of life and death if the baby has a blowout, although it makes more laundry!! Some babies react to Pampers, some react to Huggies, some react to Luvs, most don't react to any. I used what was on sale most of the time.

I think I used a Walmart (White Cloud) brand consistently. They had either tweety on them or little zoo animals. They were great and cheap. I was so worried when I couldn't find them because I thought they were removing them from market. I liked the feel (although they start out a little hard) and they really held the stuff in. I didn't like the Pampers plasticy feel and Huggies couldn't hold the stuff in. Joaquin got very few rashes during that time too.

You'll just have to see which ones fit your little girl the best. Pampers Swaddlers "New Baby" worked *wonderfully* for Lucas, and I *loved* how soft they were. Just as a warning, though, in case this matters to you ~ they have a *slight* smell to them [in my opinion, anyway ~ kind of like soft baby powder]. We switched to Huggies after that, though, because they fit Lucas *so* much better than the Pampers as he grew and he didn't wake up wet. We *love* Huggies! I prefer Huggies wipes to Pampers, too.
