My little girl never ceases to amaze me. Now, as a first time mom, I'm not really sure what is considered "amazing" or early, so bare with me if this is completely un-exciting. Indulge me, please. I'm a proud momma! Afterall, we naturally believe she's a little genius!
She was able to hold her head up the day she was born for minutes at a time and has been able to scoot around and turn almost all the way over since she was a week old (I did this too). Is this typical? My favorite thing she does now (besides smiling) is playing with toys. She is so alert and interested in toys, and has been for a while. She looks at them, laughs and talks to them, reaches for them (although still doesn't really realize her hands are her own). She is so cute! My aunt and uncle visited last week and said that their grandson wasn't this alert and interactive until at least 16 weeks. My husband is a real genius (literally) and I'm hoping Olivia inherited some of his brains. He was even in this "who's who among middle schoolers" book. He graduated with a 4.0 and an engineering degree and was sent to work with robots in Tokyo at the age of 21 (he graduated college at 20). Ok, so now that I'm done bragging on my hubby, let me brag some more about my daughter. :-) She is hitting her milestones more quickly than expected and just seems so aware of everything. I just hope she doesn't do everything early. As a baby, I was getting teeth at 12 weeks! My poor mom got bitten a few times while nursing me!
Don't worry, I'm not going to turn into one of those really annoying constantly bragging moms. :-) I just think my little girl is wonderful and wanted to convince you of the same. Now, care to hear how she's the loudest farter ever? LOL!
P.S. I just read that a woman found out her baby died at 40 weeks gestation. He was strangled by the cord. Now I am sobbing. Even the hubby teared up when I told him. Go hug your children and thank God for them. I just did. I don't understand why things like this happen. Please pray for this woman and her family. I can only imagine the pain they are feeling.

That story is sooo sad! I can't even imagine what they're going through. I had a cousin who had a stillborn..saddest funeral I've ever attended.

That has got to be one of the saddest things. My biggest fear when I was pregnant was something like that happening. I remember when I was in training for nursing when I was in L&D, a lady that was 39 wks came in and "hadn't felt baby move for over 6 hrs" of course I was checking for the heartrate and found 136bpm, but checked mom's pulse at the same time and it was the same. Worst feeling ever was telling her I couldn't find the heartrate after checking for a half hour, my excuse was "i'm still in training". They did get u/s up about 1/2 hr later only to tell them the baby had died. Worst shift ever. I will never forget it. I can't even begin to imagine how they are dealing with their loss. :(
Posted by: Emmakirst at June 3, 2006 12:38 AMPretty and smart Miss Olivia is! So very sad about that family.
Posted by: Ani at June 3, 2006 03:12 PMLucas has always done things early, too! Don't worry one bit about biting while nursing. Luke only did it a few times, and it wasn't bad at all. You can firmly tell them, "No bite Mommy!" and pull them away for a bit, then try again. At least, that's what someone told me to do. Good luck!
