Can someone please tell me why the balance in my checkbook NEVER matches what the bank says, even when I've gone through EVERY SINGLE STATEMENT and checked off my records against theirs?
And can you please hit me for not living as frugally* as I am now? It's amazing how much money I could have saved and/or used to pay stuff like loans when we had 2 incomes. I could kick myself!
*Is this even a real word???
Posted by Hannah at November 9, 2006 01:02 AMI feel your pain!! Except mine is in reverse.. when I had less income in my university days I saved more money!! Now I earn like 6 times as much and save not much more than when I was in University! I need to restrain myself a bit! :)

I keep an OCD monthly budget spreadsheet instead and check all my accoungs once a weekday and update it. I figure the real purpose for balancing is to 1) make sure you know how much you've got in there so you don't overdraft and 2) to make sure that nothing weird happens that you need to correct, and it pretty much does that. Hehe. Shhh... don't tell my dad. ;)

Posted by: Melany aka Supermom at November 9, 2006 10:03 AMi compare my checkbook to my online statement every day, and i'm always $1 or so under what the bank says. it's so weird, and it really frustrates me. so i feel your pain.
