Thanksgiving

-- Last night, James and I got into a big argument over a bunch of things: the fact he's rarely home, the fact that I never have time for myself, that I've been cleaning up after everyone AND taking care of the baby more than I should be with 3 other people in the house. I know he needs time to see his mom since he only sees her once a year, but I want a break to visit too! I totally blew up, cried, told him I was going to my mom's, but then decided that would be stupid at 1:00 in the morning, so I fell asleep mad. This morning, James apologized, and took the baby so I could sleep in. We talked about everything. I promised to be more understanding about how busy he is (full time job-- and a mgt position at that-- and grad student) and he promised to try to make a little more time to give me a break. Then, when the in-laws went for a drive, he totally made it up to me. *wink, wink* I can tell he's really made an effort today, continuously asking what he can do to help.

-- I baked a carrot souffle (like a carrot custard) and a cheesy squash casserole. Yum!

-- Olivia said her first word: UH OH! She says it all the time (I don't count baba, mama, or dada) because I think she's just babbling.

-- She waves to everyone and everything. The cutest part is, she waves with both hands!

-- She is feeding herself so well, picking up pieces of food with her thumb and forefinger. She's actually very coordinated.

-- She learned how to drink from a straw today. Once she figured it out, she cried and cried for my cup of ice water and would reach for it, put the straw in her mouth, and suck. That's my girl!

-- She is trying so hard to pull herself up. Almost there!

Hee hee, I love that "uh-oh" is one of Olivia's first words....that is adorable. I'm glad things got resolved quickly with your hubby...those type of arguments/fights seem to be so common after you have a baby in the mix. Our hubbys can basically do whatever they want when they want...and I know I hardly make a fuss, but there are some days where it really gets to me.

Like tonight exactly. My mom, sister & I are planning a little 2 night trip to Minneapolis in February (first of all, HELLO? that is 3 months away!) and I definitely want to leave Hailey behind this time. My hubby made a big deal over the fact that he would have to give up 3 days to watch her 24/7 (and his mom is out of the country too...so he can't even haul her off there!) and how I better make sure he doesn't have hockey or anything those days because he wouldn't know where to leave her! I was so ticked off...if he was going away there wouldn't be any questions asked. Argh. I still love him (obviously!) but some days!!!!!!!

(sorry for the long comment!)

She is reaching so many milestones. I find the ages from 6 months to 18 months so exciting. They learn SO much.
I'm glad you and your hubby sorted things out

Go Olivia!! What a smartypants!! Amelia mimicks our words "Hiiii" and "Heyyy" as greetings but hasn't mastered uh oh yet. I can just picture Olivia saying that, and it's so cute! Just wait till Olivia's pulling up on everything, it's crazy! I have to watch A b/c she crawls over to EVERYTHING and pulls up immediately... including our space heater, the oven, our bookshelf, the floor lamp, etc. Yikes! Would you mind sharing your cheesy squash recipe? Sounds amazing!

Sorry you guys had the argument~I think that's typical of ALL men once they get married & especially once you have kids. Olivia's 1st word is cute~that was Kendall's 1st word too! Both hands waving~too cute~you'll have to do a video of that & post it :)

Glad James realized that you were in NEED of Hannah time and he needed to step up if even for a few hours....I know he means well and you do too...but I agree it must be frustrating.

yeah, i think that what a lot of us tend to forget that even tho' someone's a mummy now, that they're still the person they were before, and that person needs a good break from all the mummydom once in a while even though they love their babies to bits.

Seems like all couples with new babies struggle with this dilemma ... I wonder how you avoid it or if you even can.
