Hodge Podge

I'm sorry my blog has been on hiatus. I'm not sure what was going on, but after a few tweaks, things seem to be ok! Whew!

I am just so thankful for my moms' group. It's funny that I don't mention it more, since it's a daily part of our lives these days. It's actually more than a moms's group-- we don't just meet once a week. There are literally 10 things to do a week, easily! We jog with our strollers MWF, and often attend other things inbetween, like dinner last night and a non/new walkers group at the museum this morning. I'm so thankful for all the support and friends I've made. Just last week, I met a mom at the park (I think I mentioned it), invited her to the moms' group and now we've been hanging out. It's so good for Olivia to have other kids to play with!

Has anyone tried the new iced mocha at Buger King! Yummy! Tastes like chocolate milk with cofee flavor! I tried to find a link to it, but couldn't.

Tonight I went to see my moms' show at my old school. Once again, I sat in the audience with tears in my eyes as I watch all my babies sing and dance. It brought back so many wonderful memories of teaching. I got tons of hugs afterwards, and some of them asked me if I was coming back next year. Of course, I'm not, but I do miss them. James dropped me off and picked me up, and he brought Olivia in when he came to get me. All the kids gathered around her, played with her curls (yes, she is actually getting some hair) and she began to cry. I think it was too much for her. She's so clingy to me in large groups. I think she's just starting to feel comfortable at playgroup.

I've started giving Olivia a few ounces of whole milk a day. She still nurses a lot, but it frees me up a little to be able to give her some milk while we're out. So now, in addition to the 3 half gallons we usually have for us (Organic only comes in half gallons, and we drink A LOT of milk!), we also have a half gallon of whole milk, which lets face it, I like to drink. So many calories, but oh so good and creamy!!!

Oh, and what to do for her party? I haven't decided on ANYTHING. I'm such a slacker I can't think of a theme.

I wondered what was going on & was started to get worried about you :) That's great that you've found a good Mom's group. I know you must've enjoyed seeing your kids @ your old school & sure they enjoyed seeing you :) Kendall's birthday is on 4/28 & I decided on a theme mid-week last week :) I posted about it on my blog~you'll have to come over to my blog & read it :) Well, I'm going to bed~I'm exhausted for one day :)

This whole first birthday party is WORK! Ava turned one on Tuesday, but her party is Saturday. We don't really have a theme for her either. I found some super cute pink and green invitations, so basically we're going to go with...pink and green. She's just not into anything at this age, and she won't remember anyways :-)

When I click on your link it is always coming up on your March 20 post. Then I go down to archives and it brings me to the recent ones. Weird! At least I can still get to you. :)
That's so nice to have a group of friends in the same stage of life you are at. All of my friends had kids before me so while they were just starting preschool and such, I was at home with a newborn so it felt a little lonely at times. It's so important to connect with someone who's dealing with the same things you are.
I don't think you have to worry about a theme too much. It certainly doesn't need to be complicated or fancy. Really you could just do the #1, get a hat, bake a cake in that shape, ice it pink and you're done! It's easy to find pink napkins too. I figure when they are too little to have an opinion you get to do what YOU want. Soon enough they start to tell you the kind of party they want. At least that's my theory anyhow. :)

When I read this the 1st time, the pics didn't show up~such CUTE pics! Olivia's just darling :) The one of her @ the refrigerator is too cute~Kendall does the exact same thing! I have a jar of lemon juice (it's plastic~they started making them plastic, thank goodness!) on the bottom shelf of the door & that's the 1st thing he *always* goes for, lol!

That's great that you have a nice group of moms to regularly hang out with now. And it's cool that you guys take advantage of it to exercise too.
A theme? Stuff Olivia likes, with some stuff you like thrown in for good measure. Does that count as a theme? Seriously, at this age, I think any themes we come up with are more for our sake than for theirs. Save the money you would spend on matching plates and decorations and use it on an extra cool toy. Or sock it away for next year's birthday when Olivia will be more aware of such things. A long way to say I don't think you're a slacker.

You're not a slacker! It really doesn't have to have a theme, like Shokufeh said, but you could always go with the Olivia pig theme (like I e-mailed you way back when). Or a tea theme! You probably have all of the stuff that you'd need for that! hehe :)

Oh, another idea ... just do a spring party! Since she's an April baby! It could double as a welcome spring thing!
