Nip/Tuck

I was reading an interesting conversation on a blog the other day. The blogger mentioned that she was thinking about getting implants, and the next thing I read, many bloggers got all worked up, accusing her of being vain and too much into appearances. Some said they were dissapointed in her. The whole thing surprised me. I figured people were more relaxed about it these days. There were some who supported her choice. A mom in my moms' group got gorgeous new boobs a few weeks back, and the attitude of most moms seemed to be, "good for you!" I know in our society, many people (like stars) take it a bit too far, focusing entirely too much on their image and causing many women to have unhealthy feelings abou the way they look.

Personally, I don't have a problem with plastic surgery to a degree. I think if you can afford it and it makes you feel better, go for it. I fully intend to have a tummy tuck when I'm done having kids. James and I have already talked about it, and he says we'll take out a loan if need be. I don't consider myself a vain person. I doubt I'd ever have a face lift or lypo, but I don't like the way my clothes fit now, and having extra skin there makes it tough. I also know no matter how much I work out, it's here to stay. And I'm sure, after 1 or 2 more babies, it'll only get worse. So yes, I plan to have plastic surgery someday. But I don't look at it as enhancing myself, I just want to get back to the way I was.

But what about people who probably look fine to the rest of us? What about wanting bigger boobs? Or fatter lips? Or a less wrinkled forehead?

I'm curious, what are your views on plastic surgery? Is it vain and a waste of money that could be better spent, or do you believe it's great if it makes someone feel better? Where do you draw the line?

So, if you're all for plastic surgery, what would you be most likely to get? Anything bothering you? If money wasn't an object, how would you change yourself?

I'm definitely getting my boobs done when I'm finished! Either a lift or reduction. They are sooooo huge and saggy :( even though I'm still breastfeeding. I am terrified to see how far they sag with no milk in them. I hate looking in the mirror at them when I'm naked. Yuck! I do love them in a killer push up bra though... but I still have to continually adjust them!

If money were no object, I would have my boobs lifted and a tummy tuck. I'm done having children and I don't think my body will ever be the same. My husband on the other hand is totally opposed to it. He feels like the stretch marks and saggy breasts are a badge of honor. I think he truly feels that way but also secretly likes me looking the way I do so that no one else looks at me!

I'm all for it if it makes someone feel better about themselves. If money were no object, I'd get a breast reduction & tummy tuck.

I'm planning on lipo-dissolve for my stomach/abs (is this the same as tummy tuck?) once I'm done having kids. I've always had a bit of a "baby fat" belly, and it's only worse now that I've had a child. And ab work hasn't helped. I can't wait - I hate not fitting right in my clothes and would love to not have to walk around sucking it in all the time.

I'm SO having a tummy tuck whem I'm done having kids - my OBgyn will even do it for me while I'm on the table having my last caesarian! After that - definitely new boobs! (current ones are too big from weight gain and when I lose it those suckers are heading south) I'm 31 now, so in ten years, maybe my eyelids - or getting rid of my budding double chin. I used to have a problem with plastic surgery - when I was 20, now that I've grown up - seriously - if the medical technology exists then NO ONE should make you feel bad about getting stuff done. (sure I think going for a nose job every year is wrong - but for fixing stuff - go for it!)

I had already had a consultation and a surgery date for a breast reduction when I got pregnant with Emma. One day... Have you heard of this new "thermage" technique? I saw a billboard for it in my town. It helps get rid of the baby belly but without cutting. Like a magic wand or something.

Interesting! In theory I would love to get a breast lift, but I know I would never actually do it. First of all, because I couldn't justify spending the money, but mostly because I don't think I could ever willing have surgery. That freaks me out!

If money were no object, there is quite a list of things that I would do. All minor, but would make me feel better about myself. But, since money is an object, I will wait:) A girl from my HS recently spent the families vacation fund for a boob job without telling the hubby! Yeah...that would be a problem!

I have no problem with someone getting plastic surgery if they can afford it and that is what they want. I do have a problem with these 17 and 18 year olds getting a boob job for graduation or this woman who has had like 60 surgeries. I saw that on some show I was watching but don't remember which one. I really don't want plastic surgery (I'm scared to go under) but if someone else wants it then I say go for it!

after my surgery in a year and half I am going to have a recontstruction because of all the skin that will be left... and I know i can get insurance to cover a boob reduction too... but if I was skinny I could wouldn't care lol... some lose skin and sagging is normal... but if someone wants bigger boobs that is fine... I just want smaller ones... and yes I am a G cup...

My mom got implants about ten years ago (she was an A cup MAYBE beforehand), and my grandmother got them after having a double mastectomy, and then later had the removed. My grandmother also recently had a facelift and a nosejob. Soo....my opinion of it all is that if it makes you feel better then go ahead. As for what I would like done, I am not really sure. I wouldn't mind getting wrinkles filled in one day when I have them :).
