Good Morning

Don't have time for much of an entry because we're heading out the door to run errands, but I'm leaving you with a question.

Do you give treats to your toddler when they use the potty? If so, at what point should the rewards stop? I think Olivia squeezes out drops just to get a treat. We give her yogurt-covered raisins, so it's not anything unhealthy, but at some point, the rewards will have to stop.

For your sake, I was hoping you were about to say you were heading out the door to the hospital. Soon enough.
I don't give physical treats to MrMan for his potty going. I just do lots of clapping, hooting, hollering, and high-fiving. And then tell others about it in his presence, so his pride in a job well done can continue.

Anna eventually just "forgot" about treats. I just kind of stopped giving them to her unless she asked for them. When she did, i gave them but she kind of weaned herself off of them..

I'm not sure, because we're still using treats. I do have a friend who eventually switched from a treat every time to a treat at the end of the day. I guess eventually you just drag out the treat giving so much that they forget about it.

Ahh, I thought you were going to say you were heading out the door to go to the hospital!!!! In due time ;) As far as treats, we've never used them w/Kendall but we make a really big deal about it when he potties/poops & congratulate him, praise him, etc. Like you said, at least they're healthy treats that Olivia's getting :)

We gave treats for just a day or so of pee'ing...she really "got" it fast......now pooping on the other hand took a week...so we gave her HUGE rewards (it was a box of small toys) that she got to choose from. A week of that, and we were out of toys and she had forgot all about them.

If she won't go pee without a reminder of a treat she might not be quite ready.

Good luck! :)

Hmm ... you haven't updated yet today. I'm curious ... :D :D

Lucas just peed in the potty last night for the very first time! And he went No. 2 in the potty this morning. I'm very excited, but it's kind of gross to clean up. :( Anyway, I gave him fruit snacks as a reward. I should come up with something else, like stickers. I've heard that if you give them food as a reward, it could make them associate food with rewards ~ rather than food simply as nourishment for the body. But ... seriously, he LOVES fruit snacks! And I knew that would put him over the edge, LOL! :)

Good luck with your upcoming delivery! Thinking of you!
